EUROPEAN | |
Gracious | |
Green Gage | Greenish-yellow, mid-size plum. Excellent flavor, semi-free zone. Zone 5 hardy, but does well for me here in a protected site (except for sun scaled problem) |
Mt. Royal | Early in testing. Reputadly hardier and more reliable production than an Italian Prune. |
Syverson's Rescue | Unknown Big Fork rescue. Hardy and vigorous here away from lake. Sweeter, juicer and much larger than an Italian Prune. Very good flavor. |
Italian Prune | Free-stone and meaty, western Montana standard, the one to which all others are compared. Especially good dried. |
Kuban Delight | Hardy, beautiful, Russian plum. Tart skin, sweet multi-colored flesh. Personal favorite. |
Autumn Sweet | Somewhat similar to Italian Prune, but slightly larger and cling stone. |
La Crescent | Early, small cling-stone, but flavorful and beautiful yellow-wash with red skin. |
ASIAN AMERICAN | |
Pembena | |
Kahinta | |
Grenvill | |
Methley | |
Assiniboin | |
Toka | Hardy and long-blooming period, so an excellent pollinizer for other Asian American crosses. Strong, spicy flavor makes for strong likes and dislikes. |
Cocheco | |
Waneta | Unusually large fruit for a Montana hardy hybrid plum. Good-quality, but like all others in this group, an aphid magnet. |
